THE FIFTH ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF MODERN LANGUAGES FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL-AGE PUPILS

Date: Friday, 2nd February 1996

Venue: Elvin Hall, Institute of Education, London WC1H OAL

Time: 09:30 - 16:00hrs.

Fee: £55.00 (inclusive of all refreshments and handouts)

For the past four years, Ming Tsow has initiated an annual conference on various issues related to the introduction of modern foreign languages in primary schools at the School of Education, King's College, London. Professor Eric Hawkins was the first speaker. His support and continuing interest since the 1960s has been most encouraging.

The yearly conferences have also gained a regular following among the teachers who have contributed significantly to the quality of discussion and exchange of ideas.

February 1996 sees the fifth annual event and will be organised under the auspices of the independent non-profit making languages forum, Bilingualism and Languages Network. There will be an update and overview as well as presentations from teachers and a resource exhibition.

Among our priorities are: resource and materials sharing, IT and PMFL, the introduction of grammar, writing, primary and secondary cross-phase implications, the teaching and learning framework, target language.

Please do make suggestions about content and other issues.
