CAN YOU COUNT ?

Some things you can count, some things you can’t count.

For example:

I can count dogs. + =
But I can’t count water.
I can’t say: The dog is drinking three waters.
I can say: The dog is drinking some water.

I can count tapes or CDs.
I have twelve CDs by Michael Jackson.
But I can’t count music. I can’t have one music, or two musics.

I can have a cup of tea.
But I make the drink with some tea.

Look at these words and decide if you can count them. Make two lists. Put things you can count, or countable nouns, in one list, and things you can’t count, or uncountable nouns, in the other.

dog soap water pop music
tea banana ink student
tree salt rice balloon
